The Waerenga '1000' 2009

December 5th & 6th
The organising committee wish to confirm the dressage test for the ‘Waerenga 1000’ with be CCI Test A 2009 for the appropriate level.

A change has also been made to the conditions of entry and the draw will now be made on Saturday evening, at the conclusion of the dressage, to ensure riders in this class don’t have to wait around when they have finished the phases they wish to complete. The Maramarua Hunt will hold a land owner’s function alongside the dressage arena to ensure the horses and riders are exposed to some atmosphere. The judges will be available after the dressage to discuss their comments with individual riders.

Classes 2 & 3 will take place over Sunday December 6th only. The course designers and builders are currently working on the tracks to ensure you ride a different track from that which you experienced in November.

The Event
The Waerenga 1000 has been created to cater for those of you who are looking for a little more than Training or Pre Novice in the later part of the Spring season. Some will be looking for a relaxing finale to the season, while others will be looking for a more appropriate lead into the final FEI competition at Puhinui.

This class, Class 3 is run independently of Classes 1 & 2, but the time frame of the class will be built around Classes 1 & 2 so those who may have horses in the Waerenga 1000 can focus on this class without their Training & Pre Novice interfering.

The composition of the class is:

Dressage: FEI CCI * Test A, FEI CCI ** Test A, and FEI CCI *** Test A, the same as Puhinui, will be run. The rider can choose which of these tests they wish to ride in. The test will be judged.

The dressage will be held on the Saturday afternoon to allow for a quiet relaxed environment for the FEI Tests.

Show Jumping: The ring will be set at Novice specifications, CCI* specifications, CCI** specifications and CCI *** specifications, progressively.

Riders choose which of the heights they wish to jump. Time permitting, more than one round may be jumped. The rounds will be judged. Show jumping held on Sunday.

Cross Country: A course of around 14 efforts including a water and a selection of types of jumps will be offered for riders to jump. The height of these jumps will be 110cm maximum. This section of the Waerenga 1000 will not be judged. Riders will start under starter's orders and will ride the course at their own rate. Officials will monitor the course for safety reasons and will ask riders having excessive difficulties to either retire or move to the next fence. Cross country held on Sunday after the completion of all other cross country.

The nature of the Class is non-competitive. All that riders are competing against is their own goals.

To this end, in place of prize money, we will be doing a draw for one person to win $1000.00. See conditions of entry.
